Air Ioniser

An air ioniser (or negative ion generator) is a device that uses high voltage to ionise
(electrically charge) air molecules.

Black Liquor Boiler

Black liquor is a recycled byproduct formed during the pulping of wood in the papermaking industry and is a common source of energy. The boiler produces steam and electricity and recovers the inorganic chemicals for recycling.

Electrophoresis

A technique for separating different types of molecules, usually proteins, based on their patterns of movement in an electrical field.

Fluidized Catalytic Cracker

The fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit is one of the most complex interactive processes in the refining industry. It is a means in which petroleum derivatives are continuously charged; hydrocarbon molecules in the presence of a catalyst suspended in a fluidized bed are fractured into smaller molecules, or react with a contact material suspended in a fluidized bed to improve feedstock quality for additional processing; and the catalyst or contact material is continuously regenerated by burning off coke and other deposits. HEPA

High-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter removes very small lead particles and prevent them from being redistributed into the air.

Ionized Particles

A particle that is electrically charged (positive or negative); an atom or molecule or group that has lost or gained one or more electrons

Ionize

To dissociate atoms or molecules into electrically charged species; to be thus dissociated

Ozone Generator

A device that generates ozone by passing a voltage through a chamber that contains oxygen. It is often used as a disinfection system.

Scrubber

A device for removing unwanted gases or particles from an air stream by spraying the air with liquid (usually water) or forcing air through a series of baths. Scrubbers are often put on smoke stacks.

Smelting

Stated in the most general sense, smelting is the process of melting or fusion, especially to extract a metal from its ore.


Sulfur Trioxide

Sulfur trioxide (also spelled sulphur trioxide) is the chemical compound with the formula SO3. In the gaseous form, this species is a significant pollutant, being the primary agent in acid rain.

Transformer

An electrical device by which alternating current of one voltage is changed to another voltage.
